Domain extension meanings are something even some of the pro Web surfers overlook. I mean everyone and their brother has been to a .com, .net or .org website. But, many times the meanings of these domain extensions are overlooked.

Here I will introduce a brief, yet silly listing of domain extension meanings and a review of each. These are by no means serious and need to be taken with a bucket load of salt.

TLD - means "tender lovin' domain" in the Internet world. Just ask any webmaster and this is the answer you'll get. Really.

ccTLD - this is carbon copy of the tender lovin' domain.

gTLD - this is a great tender lovin' domain with extra spicy sauce on top.

.com - is the granddaddy of all domain extensions. The meaning of the extension is commy.

.net - Okay, this is misinterpreted so many times, but what it really means is "dragnet".

.org - some will misinform you that this domain extension meaning stands for "organization" but the real abbreviation is for Cyborg.

.biz - Some say this stands for "business" but that is hogwash. This really means "Byzantine," as in the empire, oh yeah.

.us - means you and me.

.info - of course some will say that the meaning of this domain extension is information, but the real deal is infomaniac.

.mobi - is the whale of all domain name extensions for cell phones. Nothing funny here. Just wait for .ahab to be released by ICANN.

.tv - means Tuvalu and not TV. Okay, that's the first serious thing I've written on this page. Stay tuned for the .survivor name extension to be released by ICANN.

.ws - means West Samoa, Website or Winston Silliman, you choose.

.me - is another country code extension for Maine.

.name - This has nothing to do with anything and should be ignored totally.

.ca - is California the world's fifth largest economy.

.co.uk - is the British spelling of "cook".

.cn - stands for Camp Nimrod

.cnn - and of course, this is the most trusted name in news.
